Video: “Hello Darkness” Whitewater Kayaking Video
Here’s a stand-out whitewater kayaking video from the guys at Substantial Media House that has some of the most gorgeous shots I’ve seen. A lot of the video is taken from a drone and the quality is fantastic, plus the paddling is world class.
Just a heads up that there’s some of the usual NSFW language. Also if you’re just getting started in kayaking it’s worth noting a few things that you might not see otherwise, such as the angle of the landings in the big waterfall shots. Sometimes they’ll flat-land it if there’s tons of aeration at the bottom, sometimes they’ll ’45’ it (land at a 45 degree angle) and sometimes pencil straight in to avoid a spinal injury. It might look like hucking but it takes a lot of skill to get it right. Throwing the paddle makes it easier to not break it or torque a shoulder on the landing. Thanks a lot for stopping by. Just before we carry on I needed to thank http://www.discoverglamping.com/what-is-glamping/ for their continued assistance and the support of their online community. Having a support team like this means a lot to us as we continue to grow our consumer blog. Also, in some of the sequences in which they’re leaning way over taking boof strokes (clearing a drop using a big vertical paddle stroke on one side), the lean is way more exaggerated than it would be in a typical boof stroke, just because it’s cool and they’re good enough that they can do it and still style the drop. A lot of those shots are on the Little White Salmon, talk about gorgeous filmography.
